Stephanie Mickelsen
Rep. Stephanie Mickelsen paints a picture of herself as a long term Idahoan, farmer, and supporter of the police and border security, etc.
Here’s what she’s NOT telling you…
All I can do is provide you with the information. You decide for yourself.
Mickelsen's Liberal Ideas
Weak on Illegal Immigration
Rep. Mickelsen might trick you into thinking she opposes Illegal Immigration, but her actions say otherwise. She rejects nearly every effort to reign in illegal hiring.
Weak on Abortion
Rep. Mickelsen says she is pro-life, but her rhetoric resembles that of abortion lobbyists. She also has a hidden video in which she promotes abortion as a preemptive measure before the mother’s life is ever in danger. The law includes exceptions, yet she speaks as though they do not exist. -- Watch the hidden Video here.
Weak on Many Conservative Issues
Rep. Mickelsen claims to be a conservative, but her actions don't match the typical definition of a conservative.
Quick Summary
Illegal Immigration
- She won’t support any E-Verify bills
- She was exposed for welcoming back a criminal illegal
- She makes weird videos saying we need cheap labor to get tacos in less than 45 minutes
Abortion
The abortion lobby is trying to get an initiative on the November ballot to change Idaho’s abortion law. Rep. Mickelsen has made videos that appear to be drumming up support for the ballot initive.
- She hid or deleted a video about using abortion in a situation where the mother’s life could become in danger but is not yet, and she Ignored other treatments.
- Watch the hidden or deleted video Here or below.
- She claims the only option is to wait for a natural birth
- She claims the baby has zero chance of viability before 25-27 weeks (which is incorrect and continues to decrease)
- Her basic logic is: The mother has a “chance” of developing an infection, so the solution is to kill the baby as a preemptive measure.
- In other words — She is saying abortion should be used as a preventative measure before the mother’s life is ever in danger.
- She ignores other possible treatments such antibiotics and/or inducing birth.
The current abortion law, the Defense of Life Act, already includes exceptions for the life of the mother, rape or incest (Read it Here). In the context of the abortion ballot initiative, this should tell you who she is listening to and what her biases are.
One of the “tricks” in the abortion debate is to wrap the health and life of the mother together. In legal language, they are very different, and health can mean many things including mental health. —
In Rep. Mickelsen’s recent interview on NewsTalk 107.9, she repeatedly used the phrase “life and health” together. She also never took a side on the abortion ballot initiative.
Hidden or Deleted Video
I would say Rep. Mickelsen is ignorant but her record shows she is just plain lying.

1. Babies at 27, and yes even 24 weeks, are absolutely viable and the idea that killing them should be allowed is evil.
2. An induction and delivery is absolutely the right medical decision in… pic.twitter.com/mdFqY07SzK
Deceives Voters
Rep. Mickelsen is aware that our district leans strongly conservative, so her campaign messaging often adopts Republican-style language to appeal to voters. However, her debates in committee and several votes do not match that of a conservative.
In this video she gets caught appearing to want to hide her vote. She both spoke and voted against the bill. Then after the vote totals were known, she wanted to change her vote.
